Join Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering as a Quantity Surveyor on the HS2 N1/N2 Project
Our Ground Engineering team at Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to be part of the HS2, N1/N2 project, based in Coleshill, Birmingham. This pivotal role involves working on the northern 90km section of Phase 1 of the HS2 project, contributing to the new high-speed rail link connecting London and the North of England.
As the UK's leading geotechnical contractor, Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering specializes in innovative piling and ground improvement solutions across multiple sectors, providing the expertise needed for reliable foundations – whether for towering urban skyscrapers or essential housing developments.
What you'll be doing
Some Key Responsibilities:
* Independently measure, record, and value work, adhering to established rules and standards.
* Interpret specifications and drawings to ensure accuracy.
* Develop estimates from first principles, preparing net and gross estimates.
* Prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates from measurements.
* Review weekly, monthly, and sectional work schedules to ensure project alignment.
* Plan commercial activities in line with project schedules.
* Regularly track costs and values for accurate financial oversight.
* Gather procurement information as required.
* Maintain effective communication with customers and stakeholders for successful project outcomes.
Who we're looking for
What we are looking for:
* Degree in a construction-related field.
* Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction.
* Proven ability to mentor and support junior QS team members.
* Valid CSCS card and full UK driving license.
