We have an exciting opportunity at Thames Water to join our Thames Valley and Home Counties Water System Performance Network team as a Field Engineer. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water network, from routine maintenance to complex investigations and issue resolution.
This role follows an out-of-hours shift pattern (20:00 – 06:00), offering a unique opportunity to work on essential water systems when demand is low. If you’re passionate about problem-solving and keeping vital infrastructure running smoothly, we’d love to hear from you!
Due to the nature of this role, you will be expected to travel across a wide area of Thames Valley.
What you’ll be doing as the Field Engineer
* Undertaking a series of tasks to enable the identification and resolution of system leakage (step testing, partitioning of DMA’s, flow/flush testing of district meters, boundary valve validation, waste meter maintenance & logging, sounding, correlation, pressure & flow logger deployment).
* Undertaking tasks to resolve system issues impacting service levels such as Poor Water Quality, Poor Pressure, Burst Pipes, etc.
* Investigating and resolving customer enquiries and complaints, taking ownership of the issue and seeing it through to resolution, which may require attendance at customer premises.
* Supporting day-to-day operations including mains isolation, leak and pressure investigations, and customer appointments.
* Ensuring that all work is carried out according to TW safety standards and guidance.
* Ensuring that all work is undertaken to the highest Water Quality standards.
* Ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with the appropriate asset standards and best-practice guidance.
What you should bring to the role
* Appropriate educational level/qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds / GCSE) or equivalent experience in a water network or leakage role.
* Understanding of key Company operating procedures relevant to specific roles.
* Ability to use company IT systems and office software, particularly Excel.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* An uncompromising approach to Health, Safety, and Wellbeing.
* Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
* Must hold a full UK driving licence.
