About the Role: The Compliance Specialist I plays a vital role in MED-EL’s Compliance Department, serving as a key contributor to upholding our Culture of Compliance. This position focuses on preventing and detecting non-compliant practices, conducting investigations, and leading or participating in internal audits. With a strong emphasis on education and employee training, the Compliance Specialist will collaborate closely with the VP, Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, and the Compliance Team to ensure our workforce stays informed, engaged, and empowered in compliance matters. Primary Responsibilities: Employee Training: New Employee Onboarding – With the CCO, participates in monthly New Employee Orientation (NEO). Creates and maintains new employee training files and records. Assigns role-based training, reconciliation of assigned training, adherence to training deadlines, and storage of documented training. Training Assignments – sends and tracks employee training when documents/processes are revised. Creation of training presentations and materials as needed. Customer Complaints: As required by government regulatory standards, receive, and investigate customer complaints and resolve within specific timeframes. Compile quarterly Customer Complaint information and analysis for report to MED-EL Executive Team (MET) and to Compliance Committee. Grants & Gifts Policy Effectuation: Working with the CCO, process Grants, Gifts and Donation requests. Maintain records of Grant Committee, convening meetings as necessary Federal Open Payments Reporting: Assist the Deputy Compliance Officer with quarterly data collection for annual Federal Open Payments General and Research reporting. Audits and Investigation: Participate in internal audits for MED-EL practices and all components. Participate in external regulatory audits, as necessary. Compile quarterly reports on all departmental audit activity for MET and presentation to Compliance Committee. Additional Duties: Special compliance projects, working with various MED-EL departments, as needed. Record minutes for Compliance meetings. Assist with maintenance of US Device Complaint records. Assist CCO in preparation of reports and legal memoranda, as needed. Working with Human Resources, periodic check of Office of Inspector General searchable database of excluded individuals and entities. Other duties as assigned, consistent with company compliance function, as needed. Position Qualifications: AA or BS/BA degree, focus on healthcare, business, management preferred. 0-2 years’ experience. Proficiency in MS Office Suite Process oriented. Quality focused with attention to detail. Team player. Willingness to learn – attaining continuing education units (CEUs) leading to certification in healthcare compliance (e.g., CHC, CHPC). Ability to interact comfortably with multiple layers within the organization.
