Childcare Solicitor

Rate: £50-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOE

As a Childcare Solicitor, you will advise on and manage a diverse and challenging caseload involving child protection, education, adoption, Deprivation of Liberty (DOL) cases, and public law proceedings.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for conducting legal proceedings in Family, High, and County Courts. You will act as an advocate, including handling contested hearings, and play a key role in managing complex legal matters, often under time-sensitive statutory deadlines such as the 26-week care proceeding target.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage complex childcare cases including adoption, DOL/LPS, and safeguarding matters.
* Represent the Council in court and conduct advocacy in multi-day contested hearings.
* Provide clear legal advice to Children's Services.
* Contribute to policy development and service improvement plans.
* Stay informed on legal developments and apply best practice.
About You
We're looking for a qualified Solicitor or Barrister entitled to practise in England, with substantial experience in childcare law and public sector legal services. You'll need:
* In-depth knowledge of child protection law, DOL/LPS, and adoption legislation.
* Proven track record of handling complex and high-risk legal cases.
* Advocacy experience in Family Courts and managing multi-day hearings.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong team ethic.
