Potential working days of Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, this can be discussed at interview.
What it's like to work here
You’ll be reporting to Grahame Meaden, Senior Visitor Experience Officer, working in a team of 7, at Montacute House part of the South Somerset Portfolio.
Montacute house is located in the center of the picturesque Montacute village. This beautiful Elizabethan Ham stone manor house is surrounded by formal gardens, lawns, orchards, parkland and overlooked by the ancient St Micheal's hill all of which having been in the care of the National Trust since the early 1930's.
Having featured in many feature films and TV programs and for its beauty and its place in history it attracts over 150,000 visitors per year (the largest in the portfolio) and is open 363 days per year.
Starting in spring 2025 the house is seeing a major building project in repairing both stair cases. This will be both exciting and challenging to our staff, volunteers and visitors for how ever long this will take.
What you'll be doing
As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors. With your team, you’ll be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know Montacute House. This might include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here. You'll encourage visitors to take a closer look at artworks or precious objects cared for by the Trust.
