An opportunity has arisen within NHS Forth Valley for an enthusiastic and proficient HCPC registered Clinical Biochemist. The clinical biochemist team is currently comprised of 2 consultant grade Clinical Biochemists. This post is a new position and provides an exciting opportunity for the post holder to be involved in all aspects of service delivery including training, audit, and clinical liaison. The role will include supporting the Chemistry department to develop key clinical aspects of the service and to achieve full ISO15189 (2022) accreditation.
Forth Valley Royal Hospital is a modern and well-equipped hospital and was purpose-built to provide the very highest standard of accommodation and facilities for patients, visitors, and staff. Mature woodland, ponds, landscaped courtyards, and gardens are on site for both staff and visitors to enjoy.
Applicants must have experience in biochemistry. Applicants must be HCPC registered as a Clinical Scientist, have a higher degree (e.g. MSc) in an area relevant to the discipline, and have completed part 1 and be actively working towards full FRCPath, for which support will be provided. However, applications are also encouraged from candidates without FRCPath Part 1 who have completed their initial training and are HCPC registered. An appointee who does not have FRCPath Part 1 would be recruited initially to a Band 7 position and expected to work towards passing this examination, at which point they would be upgraded to Band 8A.
The department is working towards attaining full ISO15189 (2022) accreditation and CPD is actively encouraged. The post may require out of hours working depending on the demands of the service.
