Stockton Youth Justice Team (YJT) gained an ‘Outstanding’ inspection rating from HMI Probation in 2021. The report clearly recognised the effective relationships our staff have with the Children and families we work with. As a youth justice support worker, you will need to unsure all your work is underpinned by the Youth Justice Board Child First principles where we support children to build positive futures based on their strengths and abilities with appropriate, personalised, and effective support.
We have two vacancies available to join our outstanding Youth Justice Team, and the role will co-ordinate and deliver a range of interventions and community reparation projects that children must undertake as part of their Referral / Community Orders or Out-Of-Court Disposal. You will need to ensure all projects are risk assessed and activities are fully recorded on our case management system.
The position will involve some wider restorative justice work ranging from victim contact to facilitating mediation sessions. You will also undertake some programme / personal development work with children depending on the needs of the team.
The successful candidate must have experience of working and engaging with children and their families. You must have excellent engagement. organisational and communication, skills. You will be supported by the Youth Justice Team, and you must be able to demonstrate initiative and undertake set tasks.
You will need to understand current legislation and procedures relating to Youth Justice and Children Services. They will need to understand contextual safeguarding, diversity, and the needs of working with vulnerable groups.
You will be based in the Youth Justice Team as part of the Early Help, Youth Support and Youth Justice Service area of Children’s Services.
We have 2 posts available, 1x Permanent post and 1x Fixed Term post. The Fixed Term post is until 31/03/2025.
Please be aware the temporary post is on a fixed term contract. Secondment opportunities will be considered for internal employees. Please obtain prior approval from your current line manager before completing the application if you are interested in undertaking the role on a secondment basis.
There will be an expectation to work evenings and/or at the weekends. This post has been identified as suitable for flexible working.
