Location: Salisbury (but regular travel to all offices is required and vehicle provided)

Salary: Up to £25,000 (FTE) + min 15 days holiday (based on 3 days) plus additional benefits
About the Role: We are seeking a hands-on and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our Facilities Team in a busy regional law firm.
In this role, you will:
* Assist the Facilities Manager with general maintenance tasks, office moves and minor repairs
* Be responsible for transporting items such as client files, stationery orders, IT equipment, consumables, etc between the Firm’s 5 offices using the Firm’s pool vehicle
* Be responsible for attending the firm’s off-site storage units based in Salisbury to store and retrieve client files when requested from the Archiving Team.
* You will also be required to carry out some essential maintenance tasks around each office.
This role involves manual handling and requires the ability to be able to lift and move items safely.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Storage units:
* Manage archived files, including transporting boxes to and from storage units.
* Retrieve and restore archived files to their correct locations.
* Maintain an organized and tidy storage area.
* Assist with the annual document destruction process.
2. Transportation Between Offices:
* Transport internal mail, files, and important documents between office locations.
* Handle the safe transportation of Wills, Deeds, and securities.
* Deliver boxes for archiving between offices.
* Move IT equipment, stationery, consumables, and marketing items.
* Handle banking tasks, including taking items to the nominated branch.
3. Office Maintenance:
* Carry out minor electrical tasks, such as replacing lightbulbs, plugs and fuses.
* Assist with minor plumbing works.
* Conduct PAT testing of kitchen appliances and other electrical items (training will be provided).
* Perform emergency light testing in our Winchester office.
* The weekly testing of the fire alarms in each of the offices.
* Assisting contractors i.e. pest control, building surveys, water testing, etc. allowing access to any secured areas as necessary.
* Dealing with maintenance emergencies which may arise i.e. blockages, burst pipes, electrical faults and trying to remedy any problems or if not possible, being aware of how to contact and get emergency help from the appropriate source.
* Assist with annual fire escape and pathway maintenance in Salisbury and Southampton.
* Report maintenance issues requiring external contractors to your Team Leader.
4. Additional duties as required:
* Visit suppliers to collect materials or supplies
* Dealing with the installation of new items of furniture i.e. filing cabinets, tables, fridges, microwaves etc.
* Dealing with workstation/furniture moves as required and for any major moves working with the Facilities Team.
* Any other duties as reasonably required by the Facilities Manager
Previous skills and experience:
* Previous experience in a similar role preferably in an office or corporate environment
* Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and general building maintenance
* A good understanding of health and safety regulations.
* A full UK driving license is essential.
