Job: Environmental Ranger (Green Social Prescribing)
Contract: Fixed term contract (or secondment opportunity) to 31st March 2026 with the possibility of leading to permanent employment
Location: Environmental Hub, Middlewich
Hours: 37 hours to include days, evenings and weekends where required
Salary: Grade 7 - £30,559 - £32,076 per annum FTE
We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Environmental Ranger to join our Parks Commercial team.
The role will focus on the delivery of public health and sustainability outcomes through Green Spaces for Wellbeing social prescribing Project which focusses on the communities most in need and supports improvements in participant’s physical, mental and social wellbeing through increased access to, and involvement within parks and open spaces.
You will deliver a programme of activities that help support participants and maximise their use of green space linked to the NHS 5 Ways of Wellbeing. This will involve working with people whose health would benefit from working on open space and accessing their local parks to deliver meaningful activities that also enhance the open space.
Our ideal candidate will have;
• Experience of working in a community engagement role or similar
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A demonstratable understanding of the natural environment and the benefits it brings to health and wellbeing
• An understanding of the health and safety requirements
• The ability to travel across the Cheshire East borough
The role will involve some work to help promote the service, such as representing the service at meetings with colleagues in other health and green space services, and regular posting on social media. The role will require some evening and weekend working.
