To have overall accountability for successful project delivery including; initiation, planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/close out.
Change agent that provides management, leadership and inspires a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a common goal.
This is an initial 12 month Fixed Term Contract, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent full time role.
What you'll be doing
As a Project Manager, you will have the following accountabilities:
* Ensure the team maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)
* Ensure reports provide relevant information which enable decisions to be made which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall strategy.
* Responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain.
* Develop, implement and update resource allocations plans (OBS) and raise appropriate requests.
* Produce plans for the team to achieve goals/aspirations.
* Lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk Register and recommend/implement changes.
* Manage subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved.
* Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification.
* Develop, implement, review and periodically update resource loaded schedules.
* Ensure that expenditure is in line with the budget and that resources are utilised efficiently to ensure cost control.
* Advocate consistency and reliability of digital data to support successful project delivery - data driven decisions.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
* Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery.
* Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts.
* Proficient in commercial/project management communications.
* Experience in implementing safe systems of work.
* Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
* Experience of working on Street Lighting or Highways Maintenance.
* Member of a professional management body i.e. APM.
The role holder is likely to have one or more of the following:
* Management/construction or experience equivalent.
* APM PFQ/PMQ/PPQ.
* CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent.
