Ringway Jacobs is seeking a passionate and skilled Assistant Engineer to join our dynamic Development Management team. This role is part of the Essex Highways Integrated Services contract, delivered in partnership with Essex County Council. As an Assistant Engineer, you will play a key role in providing technical assurance for developer-designed schemes, ensuring high-quality delivery of planned works. Your expertise will contribute to shaping the future of Essex’s highways, aligning with the County Council’s vision and priorities while delivering exceptional service.
The Role
1. Assist the Highway Authority with consultations with the Local Planning Authority for proposed developments.
2. Agree detailed designs and ensure planning permission conditions/obligations are met.
3. Attend/Chair Meetings.
4. Answer site queries/design queries in a timely manner.
Minimum Requirements
1. Degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification, or experience in highways.
2. Some knowledge of and/or experience in managing the design and implementation of the highway aspects for proposed housing developments including statutory processes involved with these activities.
3. Ability to demonstrate good project management experience.
4. Some knowledge of national guidance, legislation, and regulations relating to design and implementation of highway schemes. In particular, an appreciation of the Highway Act 1980 and CDM 2015 is required.
5. An awareness of Health and Safety legislation.
