The post is based at GOSH within the Rheumatology & Dermatology service, which falls in the Blood, Cells and Cancer Directorate. The Rheumatology department at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) isthe largest paediatric rheumatology department in the UK. We are a pioneeringcentre for research into musculoskeletal conditions. We treat, in accordance with the national guidelines, patients with arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. We are amultidisciplinary team of doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, podiatrists, nurses and administrators who all work together to support our patients and their families. Each year, the Rheumatology department sees almost 6,000 outpatients and treats almost 4,000 children as inpatients (including day cases). We also provide an ambulatory care service, in a dedicated area. The Dermatology department at GOSH offers a broad range of services for paediatric patients with severe skin disorders. Our aim is to provide an environment of clinical excellence in the diagnosis and care of children with skin diseases and to support research into their causes and treatment. Main duties of the job The Dermatology department sees around 4,300 children each year as outpatients. Last year, we cared for about600 children as inpatients and880 as day patients. The department also work closely with dermatologists from other hospitals in the UK and abroad, helping to increase knowledge of rare or unusual children's skin conditions. The successful candidate will: o Have relevant clinical experience at band 7 level in an acute environment o Be flexible and reliable o Have a passion for service development and autonomous working Whilst it is acknowledged that applicants may not have specific knowledge or experience within Rheumatology & Dermatology, candidates should be aware that if successful further training and CPD may be required to ascertain the skills that are necessary for this role and be willing to undertake additional study to achieve the level of competence that is required.
