Job Purpose
Lead, manage and oversee the operations of the employability training centre, ensuring the effective delivery of training, development and employment services to participants. The Centre Manager is responsible for achieving performance targets, maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring compliance with funding and contractual obligations. Additionally, they play a critical role in fostering a positive environment for staff, participants and stakeholders while driving continuous improvement and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring seamless delivery of employability training and support services.
Manage resources effectively, including staffing, facilities, and equipment, to ensure the centre operates efficiently.
Monitor centre performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective action to address shortfalls.
Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and funding requirements.
2. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, manage and support a team of staff, including trainers, employability coaches and administrators.
Conduct regular team meetings, one-to-one, observations and performance appraisals.
Identify and address staff training and development needs, promote CPD.
Motivate the team to meet performance targets/maintain high-quality standards.
3. Participants Support and Outcomes
Ensure participants receive high-quality training, coaching and support tailored to their individual needs.
Monitor participants progress and outcomes, taking proactive steps to address barriers to employment or training.
Work collaboratively with staff to implement innovative methods to engage and retain participants.
Promote a positive and inclusive environment that supports participants wellbeing and achievement.
4. Quality Assurance and Compliance
Ensure all activities meet the required standards, including those set by Ofsted, funding bodies, and other regulatory authorities.
Conduct regular quality assurance activities, including lesson observations, audits, and participants feedback reviews.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support audit and compliance requirements.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Business Development
Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local employers, referral agencies and community organisations.
Identify opportunities for business growth and contribute to the development of new contracts, partnerships and funding streams.
6. Reporting and Continuous Improvement
Prepare and present reports on centre performance to senior management.
Analyse data to identify trends and inform decision-making and strategy development.
Develop and implement improvement plans to enhance performance, participants outcomes and service quality.
Stay informed of changes in the employability and training sector and adapt the centres approach accordingly.
7. Key Performance Indicators
Achievement of contractual targets, including participants progression, job outcomes and retention rates.
Adherence to quality standards, including achieving Ofsted Grade 2 or higher.
Centre operational efficiency and compliance.
Positive participants feedback and engagement levels.
8. Health and Safety
Follow all health and safety guidelines and complete mandatory training.
Promote a safe and healthy working environment for staff and participants.
9. General
Adhere to the organisations policies and values, including equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Uphold a professional image of the organisation at all times.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential
1. Qualifications and specific training:
GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English.
Management qualification or significant management experience.
2. Experience:
Proven experience in managing teams within the employability, training, or similar sectors.
Experience in delivering against KPIs and contractual targets.
Strong understanding of barriers to employment and strategies to address them.
3. Knowledge:
Barriers to learning and employment.
How to support participants and promote independence.
Support strategies for various participants specific need.
4. Skills:
Leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and time management abilities.
Ability to analyse data and implement effective improvement strategies.
Proactive, solution-focused and results-driven.
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
Desirable
1. Level 4 qualification in leadership/management.
Health and Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH).
Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) qualification.
2. Experience In Managing DWP Contracts Or Other Funded Programmes.
Business development and stakeholder engagement experience.
3. Audit, compliance and risk strategies.
4. Ability to innovate/implement creative solutions to challenges.
