North Tyneside CAMHS is a specialist Mental Health Service working with children and young people from birth to 18 years of age with moderate and enduring mental health problems.
As a Band 7 Nurse Specialist in the CAMHS Team, your role would include supporting the growth and development of the Service.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will deliver a high-quality, comprehensive mental health service for children and young people with moderate and enduring mental health difficulties.
The duties of the post will include contributing to specialist assessment to help those around the child make sense of their difficulties (all aspects of assessment, including the contribution of neurodevelopmental factors, mental health, learning, systemic factors, and the role of trauma).
Job Responsibilities
1. To formulate and implement plans for the formal treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy for individual children, their families, or carers who are referred within a specific locality of the North Tyneside area.
2. To be responsible for implementing a range of interventions for individual children, their families, or carers.
3. To provide specialist assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations, and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members, and others involved in the client's care.
4. To provide specialist advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-CAMHS colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
5. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
6. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Professional Registration
* 1st Level Registered Nurse
* Registered Mentor
* A recognised teaching and training qualification.
* Additional post-registration qualification in a specific therapeutic modality.
Experience & Knowledge
* Significant experience working in child and adolescent mental health services or substantial experience of working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
* Experience of working with Children and Young People in a variety of settings.
* Experience of working in partnership with other agencies.
* Evidence of leadership skills/experience.
* Experience of delivering training/clinical supervision.
* Experience of delivering a wide range of interventions including group work, parenting work, and individual therapy.
* Knowledge, experience, and understanding of child protection policies and procedures.
* Evidence of practice development.
* Experience of or training in psychological therapies.
Other Requirements
* It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
