We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Community Mental Health Support Worker to come and join our Community Mental Health Support Service!
This is a fixed-term contract until June 2025.
This is a fully remote role, however requires someone based in the North East.
As a Senior Community Mental Health Support Worker, you will support people with mental health problems in accessing mainstream activities and resources and explore issues faced by service users that are referred, including management of their mental health, emotional management, domestic needs, and wellbeing.
You will assist individuals to reduce reliance on or move on successfully from specialist mental health provision, promoting independence by supporting individuals to develop employability and life skills and actively engage them to participate in group activities moving whole groups to independence.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a small caseload, carryout personalised recovery focused action planning to the support implementation and review of plans.
Provide supervision and allocate caseloads for up-to 8 CMHSW’s, carryout case reviews and audits of allocated caseloads, providing support and guidance where needed.
Provide 1:1 support including managing difficult emotions, anxiety, and anger management to assist service users in learning effective coping skills.
Monitor individuals who need more intense support to move forward and proactively reach out to ensure appropriate assistance is provided for any barriers in accessing services and increase engagement.
Support individuals with the development of a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) to assist with mental health recovery.
Demonstrate good mental health and well-being and encourage activities to help service users to develop healthy lifestyles.
Support and encourage individuals to access specialist advice on benefits, housing, and employment by signposting to appropriate organisations/agencies to address social factors impacting mental health.
Assist in processing referrals, reviewing crisis management, and completing risk assessment to ensure safe and high-quality care provision.
Interact actively with individuals to introduce them to mainstream resources to aid wellbeing.
Support individuals to gain accredited qualifications to allow exploration of employment avenues and provide more options.
About you
Significant experience of providing a regular and effective service.
Significant experience of working 1:1 with service users with complex needs.
Significant experience of working within health, social care or VCSE systems.
Demonstrable experience of receiving supervision in a similar role.
Understanding of challenges and barriers in accessing services.
Understanding of issues surrounding homelessness, financial inclusion, and substance misuse.
Understanding of recovery in the context of mental health.
Understanding of the effects of stigma and discrimination.
