The role is expected to provide a confident point of contact with the customer (internal and external) from an engineering viewpoint; assessing and answering any customer requests and planning for successful delivery of the development programme from a design and systems perspective. With a passion for Engineering and Technology the candidate should be a team player, committed to all stages of the design and development lifecycle to meet the needs of the business. As an important member of the Engineering team reporting to the Mechanical Function Lead, the role will suit an experienced Mechanical Engineer who can operate within a stimulating project environment. Responsibilities of the role: - Manage all engineering activities for a large customer project including design activities, with support from the Principal Technical Lead Engineer to enable positive task delivery within agreed timescales and budgets. - Manage and assess the output of the engineering functions within the team, requiring collaboration with each of the engineering functions and Principal Technical Lead Engineer. - Ensure delivery of the project engineering solution on time, to cost and to requirements. - Manage and undertake work packages with monitoring of the resource, budget and risk. - Provide technical support interaction with internal and external customers and suppliers. - Interface with senior stakeholders (internal and external) What you'll bring The role of Senior Mechanical Engineer requires the following experience and skills: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent higher Engineering qualifications plus experience. - Prior experience working on complex engineering projects and interfacing with internal and external customers. - Understanding of the specialist needs of each engineering discipline and be able to advise strategically on the engineering requirements to deliver the project technically. - Eligible for SC Clearance. - Strong in Mechanical and/or Electro-mechanical engineering skillsets - Experience in risk management. - Good understanding of the Systems Engineering development lifecycle process (Requirements, Systems Design, Verification and Validation). - Strong communication skills with the focus on engineering delivery for design and development projects. - Ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner to drive a compliant design solution, working with a collaborative team.
