An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Respiratory Clinical Support Worker to join the team and assist in our objective to improve patient safety and the patient experience through the continued improvement in the quality of our services.
Along with NVQ 2 in a care related subject, the successful applicant will have experience in an acute healthcare setting with the ability to work and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting.
This is a 20 hours per week role and the post holder will work within the Respiratory team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site and at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
The post holder will be working under the guidance and direction of the specialist respiratory nursing team. The post holder will receive training to undertake a wide variety of clinical and administration tasks including handling sleep equipment, managing sleep data, helping patients with CPAP machines.
Main duties of role
• Supporting CNS with sleep clinics
• Speaking with patients about CPAP compliance
• Carrying out CPAP mask fits and arranging new/replacement equipment
• Answering and triaging patient telephone messages
• Reviewing/validation of sleep service data base
• Working across site
• Providing patients who are on long term nebuliser medication with new/replacement nebuliser consumables
• Telephone reviews with patients post nebuliser assessments
• Ordering consumables as required

The Clinical Support Worker model proposes that the way to achieve effective clinical care is to have one or more multidisciplinary teams working in the hospital, who between them have the full range of skills and competences to meet patient’s immediate needs.
The post holder will work under the direction of the lead respiratory nurse.
