We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Student Mentor to join our team in Walthamstow. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on students' academic journeys, offering guidance and support to help them achieve their full potential. As a Student Mentor, you will play a key role in enhancing student engagement, providing academic support, and fostering personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Student Support: Provide one-on-one and group mentoring sessions to students, offering academic, emotional, and social support to help them overcome challenges.
* Guidance & Advice: Offer guidance on study techniques, time management, and goal setting to improve students' academic performance and personal development.
* Motivation & Engagement: Encourage and motivate students to stay engaged with their studies, build confidence, and overcome obstacles.
* Monitoring & Reporting: Track student progress and provide regular reports on mentee development to ensure continuous improvement.
* Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, tutors, and other staff to identify students who may benefit from additional support and collaborate on strategies for improvement.
* Well-being Support: Assist students in managing stress and mental well-being, helping them to develop coping strategies for academic and personal challenges.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
* Proven experience in a mentoring, teaching, or support role, ideally within an educational setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
* Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students to reach their full potential.
* Ability to provide both academic and personal support, guiding students in a holistic manner.
* A proactive approach with strong organisational and time-management skills.
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
* Experience working with students with special educational needs or those requiring additional support.
* Knowledge of strategies to improve student engagement and motivation.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to support students' needs.
* Experience in providing mental health and well-being support, or a willingness to receive training in this area.
* A student-centered approach with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
