This is an exciting opportunity to join the Chief Executive's Office within Newport City Council as an Executive Assistant.
As part of the Policy and Partnership team you will work alongside the PA to the Chief Executive and Strategic Directors providing direct PA support to the Strategic Directors.
The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of administrative and business support tasks and provide a high quality, professional and consistent admin support/ PA service. You will have responsibility for a range of tasks including diary management, email management and will be liaising closely with other teams within the Council to ensure that correspondence and enquiries are managed effectively.
You will coordinate meetings and diary commitments and ensure that all necessary arrangements are made in advance and that Strategic Directors are well prepared and briefed in advance of meetings and engagements.
Working with the team and service managers across the Council you will provide effective administrative support for meetings, requesting and assisting with the preparation of agendas, briefing notes, research, correspondence and managing email and telephone enquiries.
A good knowledge and understanding of the operation of the Council and awareness of the political sensitives of this working environment will be required.
The successful candidate will have relevant PA experience, and have a broad knowledge of the public sector and local government agenda. Demonstration of high standard administrative/PA support, minute taking, and ability to collate information and reports are also essential for the role.
The successful candidate will need to be highly organised with strong interpersonal skills and be able to use their own initiative to progress and complete tasks. You will need to be able to manage a large and varied workload. You will also need to demonstrate excellent communication skills in dealing with a wide range of contacts including Council Members, Senior Managers and officers an external partners.
