Autism Behavioral Health has three center locations around Connecticut: Danbury, Trumbull, and Waterbury. Services are also provided in home and community settings throughout the state. Position: Behavior Technician
The Behavior Technician is responsible for providing in-home or center-based services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder as determined by the Clinical Manager and Director’s discretion.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide Applied Behavior Analysis treatment (ABA), including behavior management, discrete trial training, pivotal response training, social skills, and parent education.
2. Follow through with the appropriate services determined by the Clinical Manager.
3. Collect data using an accurate and proper data collection system throughout each session.
4. Attend family and team meetings as directed by the Clinical Manager.
5. Attend to other duties as assigned or approved by the Clinical Manager or Clinical Director.
Company-provided Registered Behavior Technician training and testing is available for employees after 90 days.
Qualifications:
1. Preference for a degree in Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, or other related fields.
2. Self-motivated, responsible, honest, articulate, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
3. Professional demeanor, well organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent time management skills.
4. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and composure and work well under pressure.
5. Ability to serve culturally and linguistically diverse families in low and high socioeconomic status areas.
6. Comfortable working in homes of families with limited resources.
7. Ability to interact politely with individuals and families who may be uncooperative or aloof.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations, including client aggression and tantrums.
2. Implement behavior modification strategies and discrete trial teaching under agency supervision.
3. Effectively communicate with clients, family members, and agency staff.
4. Accept, follow, and implement direction from agency representatives.
5. Creative, spontaneous, independent, and animated in gestures, facial expressions, and voice interactions.
6. Ability to stand, sit, twist, kneel, bend over, crouch down, walk, and sit/play on the floor for an extended period.
7. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds without assistance from another adult.
8. Reliable transportation and current liability insurance for the vehicle.
