We are looking for a TRAC Consultant to join our team and support the administration and management of the TRAC (Transparent Approach to Costing) system across our university. As a TRAC Consultant, you will work closely with academic and administrative departments to ensure accurate costing, resource allocation, and compliance with funding requirements, helping the university maintain the highest standards in financial reporting and costing practices.
About the Role:
As a TRAC Consultant, you will be responsible for managing the TRAC process, ensuring compliance with the TRAC framework, and providing expert guidance to academic and professional services teams. You will play a crucial role in helping the university maintain accurate and transparent costing data for research and teaching activities, enabling senior leadership to make informed financial decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the implementation, management, and maintenance of the TRAC system, ensuring accuracy in the collection and allocation of cost data.
2. Provide expert consultancy to academic departments, research groups, and professional services on TRAC data management and reporting processes.
3. Work with stakeholders to develop and deliver training on TRAC system usage, best practices, and compliance requirements.
4. Coordinate the preparation and submission of TRAC data in line with university and regulatory requirements.
5. Analyse and interpret TRAC data, identifying trends and providing insights to inform university decision-making.
6. Support the preparation of costings for research grants and contracts, ensuring alignment with TRAC guidelines.
7. Troubleshoot issues and ensure the resolution of discrepancies in TRAC data.
8. Stay up to date with changes in TRAC guidelines and regulations, advising university staff on any necessary adjustments or improvements.
9. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, working to streamline and enhance the TRAC process at the university.
Key Requirements:
1. Strong experience with TRAC or similar costing and financial systems (preferably in a higher education context).
2. Knowledge of university costing models, financial management, and compliance regulations.
3. Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including academic, financial, and administrative staff.
4. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
5. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to work with large datasets.
6. Experience in providing training or consultancy to academic or professional services staff.
7. A proactive and problem-solving attitude, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
8. A degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, accounting, business management) or equivalent experience.
