This job is for a Commercial Manager to join the Software Category within the sub-category team for Cloud Services
Defence is following the Cloud First strategy which involves significant transformation by moving away from traditional on-prem data centres and migrating onto the cloud in order to exploit the latest technology. The Cloud Services commercial team plays a key role in delivering our Cloud Strategy by ensuring we have the commercial vehicles in place to enable this and secure value for money.
This is a really varied portfolio that includes a range of different contracts from low value/complexity items to circa £100m complex pan-gov agreements. What the team are delivering is truly transformational technology and will form a key part of the Defence Digital Backbone.
We are seeking a Commercial Manager to join our team, specialising in sourcing and contract management within a dynamic fast-paced and agile environment. You will be responsible for your own portfolio of procurement's and contracts, reporting directly to the Senior Commercial Officer. The role may also have Line Management responsibilities.
You will lead on sourcing a range of complex and high-value procurement projects, contract negotiations and ensure governance with government regulations. You will be empowered to think creatively and own the Commercial Strategies for a variety of procurement projects to support our category strategy. The role requires strategic oversight of supplier relationships and delivering value for money, whilst adapting to shifting priorities and maintaining operational effectiveness.
You will undertake Category Management activities, by building on market analysis and developing a clear understanding of historical and forecast spend along with future Commercial Strategies to ensure that there is an effective route to market for sourcing.
Build effective relationships with current and future suppliers, enabling the market to better understand our requirements and ensuring that we build healthy, competitive competitions that deliver the right solutions at competitive prices.
You will also be responsible for the delivery of targeted savings and benefits both cashable and non-cashable.
The post advertised is full time equivalent. There may be opportunities for part time candidates if a job share partnership can be established, subject to full time hours being achievable. Offers made to candidates below 37 hours per week (FTE) will be subject to business need and at the Authority's sole discretion.
As part of flexible resourcing, reserve candidates may be offered alternative roles within DD Commercial teams, although key responsibilities will remain the same.
