It is a highly specialised, level one rehabilitation service combining inpatient services (24 beds) with outreach support to community rehabilitation teams, nursing homes and other professionals across the network. A range of patients are treated at the RHRU, from people requiring high level cognitive and vocational rehabilitation to people who are in a prolonged disorder of consciousness (PDoC) or who are receiving neuropalliative care. The RHRU is a centre of research and learning and the successful candidate will be able to participate in research and improvement activities, in-house and external training, regular supervision and competency development, and peer support networks. Main duties of the job You will join a team of four qualified SLTs working within a large, supportive multidisciplinary team. There are opportunities to further develop skills in complex dysphagia, augmentative/alternative communication, tracheostomy management, prolonged disorders of consciousness, FEES, videofluroscopy and specialist neuropalliative care under the guidance of expert clinicians. The RHRU SLT team is supported by the larger SLT department at Northwick Park Hospital, contributing to Trust-wide initiatives and support offers, and contributing to the operation of the hospital's videofluroscopy clinic.
