Job Description
Join ALTEN UK and play a key role in developing advanced algorithms for next-generation defence systems. You’ll support a long-term UK programme focused on high-precision tracking, sensor fusion, and naval fire control — integrating radar and electro-optical (EO) technologies with complex mathematical modelling. This is your chance to contribute directly to national security on a technically challenging and highly impactful project. You’ll join a small, skilled team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, working hands-on across the full algorithm development lifecycle using tools like MATLAB, Python, and advanced system-level modelling.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain behavioural models for tracking and control applications
* Lead algorithm specification and support down-selection of optimal solutions
* Create and refine interface specifications for system-level integration
* Support the integration of radar and EO sensor data into target tracking and state estimation routines
* Conduct modelling and analysis using MATLAB and Python
* Collaborate with systems engineers to ensure smooth handoff to command and control (C2) components and embedded platforms
Qualifications
Skills
* 5+ years’ experience in algorithm development for radar, EO, or C2 systems
* Strong experience with target tracking, state estimation, and error source analysis
* Proficient in MATLAB (modelling, debugging) and Python
* Familiarity with NVIM and general algorithm prototyping tools
* Knowledge of command and control (C2) systems and systems integration
* Previous experience in defence, marine, aerospace, or other safety-critical environments
Qualifications
:
* A Bachelor’s degree (Master's Preferred) in a relevant field such as Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Electronics, Mechanical, or Physics .
* Alternatively, a relevant technical background in the UK Armed Forces with applied systems engineering experience is equally valued.
* Eligible for and SC Clearance, and Sole UK National (UK Eyes Only)
