We are looking for an innovative Consultant Haematologist to join our exceptional Bolton NHS Foundation Trust team.
Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to welcome applications for the post of Haematology Consultant within the division of medicine. We are looking for highly motivated colleagues with excellent communication and team working skills who want to deliver the best haematology care for our local population. The post holder should have a broad training in clinical and laboratory haematology.
We will also consider applications from candidates who are currently working as Locum NHS consultants and applying to be on the GMC specialist register via CESR. If successful, they will be initially offered a locum consultant post on a 2 year fixed term contract whilst they obtain their specialist registration.
You will join a medical team of 3 experienced haematologists, a Physicians' Associate and a Haematology FY1. The Trust is looking to recruit two Haematology consultants to grow the team and allow further innovation and specialisation to occur.
We work alongside a close knit nursing team comprising of a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Haematology Day Unit Manager, 2 Haematology Nurse Specialists, 2 staff nurses and a band 3 HCA.
Main duties of the job
The appointed doctor will share inpatient responsibilities with the other Haematology consultants to cover inpatient daily consultant led ward rounds. In-patient work includes in-reach service to the wards. Clinical haematology in-patient beds are within our complex care bed base and carry out daily ward rounds.
The doctor will also support a well-established and diverse outpatients' service. As a Consultant, you will have 3 clinics per week. You will also participate and attend a weekly sector-wide MDT with Bolton, Wigan and Salford.
The department provides a clinical and laboratory service, managing a full range of haematological conditions to BCSH level 2a. The medical team support the laboratory department and undertake various education elements of the role.
The posts will at the Royal Bolton Hospital and support the delivery of on call for Bolton Hospital after hours Monday to Thursday (5pm to 9am) and on call for the local Haematology network with Bolton, Wigan and Salford after hours on Friday and Weekends (Friday 5pm to Monday 9am).
We are happy to consider flexible working requests, such as part time or annualised hours, but you will be expected to work shifts on a rota that reflects and supports the needs of the department.

Job responsibilities
The post holder should have a broad training in clinical and laboratory haematology and must hold full and specialist registration with a licence to practise with General Medical Council. Additionally, they should be holder of Certificate of Completion of Training or be within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by the date of interview. Development of an area of special interest will be encouraged and the post holder will be expected to participate in the on-call rota, providing advice and clinical help across hospital and community. The successful candidate is expected to undertake clinics at Royal Bolton Hospital.
A job plan for the post will be agreed with successful candidates after appointment and reviewed within 6 months. There are opportunities to develop new services and expand and consolidate existing services depending on the successful candidates' interests. The successful candidates will be encouraged and supported to develop their subspecialty interests. There is opportunity to take lead roles in various elements of the service such as cancer care, laboratory haematology, anticoagulation, obstetric haematology and clinical governance etc.

16. Has been PI for clinical trials
