We have an exciting opportunity available for adispenser to join our friendly and dedicated practice team. The suitablecandidate will Ideally be qualified to NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services andhave a 1000+ hours of relevant dispensary experience, with previous experiencewithin Primary or Secondary Care and a background in dispensing.
Main duties of the job
We have busy dispensary which aims to provide a friendly, personal and efficient service to our includes dispensing acute and repeat prescriptions via our clinical IT systemTTP working knowledge TTP SystmOne of would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be provided. The day-to-day duties include accurate and efficient dispensing, preparation of community monitored dosage systems and answering patient queries.
This role includes receptionist duties both telephone and face to use of the sign posting toolkit to assist patients in accessing the most appropriate appointment or service. Booking appointments, processing repeat prescription requests and dealing with patient dispensary / reception team need to be approachable, professional, and knowledgeable in assisting our patients.

The team consists of three GP Partners, GP Retainer, Practice Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, phlebotomist, care co-ordinator, Dispensary / Reception team and secretarial team.

Job responsibilities
Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Dispenser / Receptionist. Theremay be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will bedependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. To be responsible for checking allmedicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepancies
b. Dispensing medicines to the entitledpopulation safely and accurately
c. Collecting prescription charges inaccordance with dispensary protocol
d. Maintaining stock levels within thedispensary, liaising with the senior dispenser to facilitate reordering
e. Receiving and storing supplies inaccordance with current policy, ensuring the cold chain is maintained whereapplicable
f. Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensedin accordance with practice policy
g. Ensuring safe disposal of returnedand/or out of date medicines
h. Ensuring all repeat prescriptions areprocessed within a 72-hour timeframe
i. Processing prescription requests viaemail, phone, face-to-face and online
j. Processing Dossett boxes
k. Always maintaining a clean and safeworking environment
l. Always maintain accurate records, includingappropriate coding entries
Ensuring an effective and efficient receptionservice is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice,receiving, assisting and directing patients and visitors in accessing theappropriate service in a courteous way.
Offering general assistance to the Practice team,projecting a positive and friendly image either in person or by telephone,taking messages and passing on information.
o.Facilitating effective communication betweenpatients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and otherassociated agencies.
Maintaining and monitoringof the Practice appointment system, processing face to face and telephonerequests for urgent and routine appointments,homevisits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to theappropriate healthcare professional.
Inaddition to the primary responsibilities, the Dispenser/Receptionist may berequested to:
a. Partake in audit as directed by theaudit lead
b. Provide guidance for trainee dispensarystaff and students as necessary
c. Remain current with the latest guidanceensuring the dispensary conforms to NICE, CQC, etc. guidance
