Martha Brook exists to create personalised stationery that isn’t just beautiful but genuinely helps people live their lives with greater intention. We are currently going through an exciting period of change, and we’re looking for a remote Creative Designer to join our team and help shape the future visual direction of our products and brand.
We’re looking for a confident creative who adores beautiful stationery, product design, illustration and typography and is genuinely delighted about the prospect of bringing their skills to our business.
This is a unique opportunity to work on product design for Martha Brook, working across our range of stationery, as well as design for digital channels, social media campaigns, corporate clients and more.
You should have a strong interest in current design trends, have a knack for distilling complex ideas into simple, beautiful designs and be confident in juggling several projects at once. You will also have experience using InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator and have an inside-out understanding of printing processes.
We imagine this role is most suited for a Midweight Designer, but we are flexible on seniority and days worked as the most important thing for us is that we find the right person who ‘gets’ our brand and can help us evolve it in the right direction. We think this is a dream job, and we are looking for someone brilliant to step into it!
Responsibilities will include:
* Product design, typesetting and illustration
* Working with the creative team on ideas creation across our design and marketing plans
* Working directly with our company founder Martha, but also working independently
* Collaborating with the marketing team to produce graphics for our blog, social media and other marketing channels
* Liaising with the production team
* Assisting with bespoke customer requests or corporate orders
* Creating mock-ups, proofs, and layouts for approval
* Preparing artwork for print, ensuring compatibility with various printing processes
* Keeping up to date on current trends and proactively generating ideas our brilliant community will love
* Bringing creativity and passion to every project.
You will need to:
* Have a keen eye for design, an understanding of beautiful brand execution, an appreciation of modern graphic design trends, and a love of stationery
* Be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
* Understand our brand makeup and be able to translate this into future designs
* Have a good understanding of type, and be mildly obsessed with fonts and layouts
* Ideally, be able to illustrate with an illustration style that complements our brand aesthetic
* Have a keen eye for trends, both current and upcoming and ideally be interested in what people are talking and sharing across social media channels, such as Pinterest
* Be confident enough to articulate your own ideas and input into team discussions
* Understand print production requirements
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Work well with others and communicate well
* Be self-critical with a keen eye for detail
* Be self-motivated and able to self-manage when working from home
* Value honesty and personal growth above ego
* Have a passion for our business and a keen and enthusiastic attitude
* Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have a willingness to ‘muck in’ with our team when it’s busy.
