Your role and responsibilities
As our new Business Support Assistant Manager, you will:
* Supervise a team of Business Support Officers to provide a range of administrative and financial duties to ensure the efficient delivery of services to the Youth Justice Service team and external partners including police, courts, and legal representatives.
* Assist with coordinating and prioritising the Business Support within the Service and lead on Court administration within the Service.
* Manage and attend Referral Order Panel Meetings, which will require some evening work.
* Have specialist knowledge in court recording and attend court (virtually or in person) to record the results of the weekly Youth Court.
* As a member of the Suffolk Youth Justice Case Management 'super-user' panel, provide essential support to users of the Suffolk Youth Justice Case Management System (CMS) and attend regular panel meetings with the Performance Team to provide feedback and contribute to enhance, develop, and improve features of the CMS.
* Take lead responsibility for maintaining and updating the Suffolk Youth Justice Practitioners Portal, which provides critical policies, procedures, and service information relating to the youth justice service, alongside relevant forms and templates.
* Minute team and service meetings as required.
* Monitor and reconcile the team budget, within agreed procedures as directed by the Business Support Manager (BSM), highlighting any areas of concern or savings opportunities to the BSM.
The team
The Suffolk Youth Justice Service (SYJS):
* Works with children and young people who are in, or on the edge of, the Youth Justice System.
* Works with parents, carers, and the victims of youth crime.
* Is a multi-agency partnership hosted by Suffolk County Council aimed at preventing offending by children and young people and protecting the public from the harm caused by their offending.
* Works to ensure the safety and wellbeing of these children and young people and to enhance their life aspirations and opportunities.
