Living with Water is a mature and well established partnership of Risk Management Authorities working collaboratively to increase resilience to surface water flooding in Hull and the surrounding area. The partnership is currently developing and delivering more than ten large scale SuDS schemes across Hull and Haltemprice with a significant programme of surface water separation planned for 2025 onwards. To support this we’re looking for a passionate and driven individual to support our multi-agency partnership team to provide Sustainable Drainage expertise. You will champion the work of the partnership, ensuring opportunities are taken and barriers are broken down to deliver industry leading blue-green solutions. Where You Fit In As our Living with Water Technical Lead you will Champion the nature first approach for Living with Water investment by providing technical input and guidance. Ensure a close working relationship between multi-disciplinary teams to ensure hydraulic modelling, civil engineering and SuDS design come together to generate solutions which deliver the best possible outcomes for customers and the environment. Oversee our innovative approach to monitoring and testing with University of Hull to ensure we’re able to maximise our understanding and the performance of new assets. Lead with passion, determination and drive to push the boundaries of traditional flood risk engineering to deliver efficient and effective blue-green infrastructure. Ensure the appropriate partnership governance is in place to support the development, delivery, adoption and maintenance of new assets. Seek to create a network of sharing and learning internally and externally to ensure we’re continually improving our approach to sustainable drainage. Leveraging your network to identify future opportunities for investment in blue-green operational solutions. Utilising your understanding of hydraulic design and modelling to work with the multi-disciplinary design team to quantify the benefits of the solutions that are delivered. Ensure that robust financial management and commercial awareness form the foundation of all Living with Water technical investments. What Skills & Qualifications You Will Need Qualified Civil Engineer to Degree Level Sound experience of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) Understands the principles of control of works – permits, PoWRA, RAMs Proven analytical, problem solving and process management skills Strong leadership skills able to lead both direct and matrix teams across the business and partners Able to develop, maintain and leverage value from an extensive internal and external network Experience of compiling, interpretation and communication of technical information and data, including ability to clearly present key items and risks to senior managers and exec members. Ability to absorb technical information and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
