We’re transforming how we work within E&M and Property Services to create a more proactive, efficient, and dynamic service – and this role is right at the heart of it.
It’s your chance to be part of something bigger – shaping the future of our services, leading from the front, and making a real difference every day.
Sound good? We’re looking for an Operational Team Manager – E&M Service Delivery to join the team.
What you'll be doing
As the leader of our E&M Service Delivery team, you’ll head up multi-skilled Craft teams delivering Electrical, Mechanical and Field Automation support at Scottish Water’s operational sites. With four Team Leaders reporting directly to you – and around 80 employees reporting to them across the North and West or South and East regions depending on the suitable candidate – you’ll make sure everything runs like clockwork.
You’ll keep an eye on budgets, people, and resources, making sure everything’s managed smoothly to deliver a service that works like it should – efficient and effective. And you’ll make sure we’re ticking all the regulatory boxes while using smart, targeted maintenance interventions to keep our assets going for longer.
When it comes to health, safety, and wellbeing, you won’t just talk the talk. You’ll lead by example, creating a proactive safety culture that keeps everyone safe and sound.
And you won’t stop there. You’ll keep one eye on today and the other on tomorrow, always looking for ways to make things better. Spot inefficiencies, tackle problems, lead change – it’s all part of helping your team thrive and providing service excellence along the way.
What you'll need
You’ve got the technical know-how when it comes to maintenance delivery. Getting the job done right? That’s just how you roll.
Fast-paced, customer-focused environments are where you thrive. You’re confident making decisions and tackling challenges without breaking a sweat.
Building high-performing teams is what you’re all about. Whether you’re coaching, mentoring, or rallying the troops, you know how to inspire others and help them reach their full potential.
You’ve got a knack for building strong relationships. From front-line colleagues to external partners, you keep everyone engaged, informed, and pulling in the same direction. Stakeholders, team meetings or cross-business collaborating? You’re the glue that brings it all together.
You’re a pro at taking complex stuff and making it sound simple. No jargon, no confusion – just clear, straightforward communication that lands with any audience.
Since this role is digital-first, you’re totally at home using IT tools like Office 365. And as you’ll be traveling across Scotland, a full driving licence is a non-negotiable (but hey, at least you’ll get to explore some incredible scenery while you’re at it).
Looking out for you
While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
This is a full time (35 hours per week) role, Monday to Friday. But you’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.
When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.
For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.
As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.
The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 8. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £48,900. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £68,510.
There’s no set standby for this role, but you’ll need to be flexible and ready to step in if an incident crops up out of hours.
This role offers hybrid working, so you can be based anywhere in Scotland as long as you're within commuting distance of one of our main office hubs, such as Edinburgh, Stepps, Dundee, or Inverness.
Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don’t worry - we’ll ask your permission before starting these checks.
If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on Sunday 9 February 2025.
