This is a full-time 12-month contract position, based on site, with potential for permanent employment in the future. Scope of Work: Key role within the Public & Government Affairs department of a leading energy and chemicals company. Reports to and supports the External Affairs Manager (UK Manufacturing), focusing on multi-channel external communications for a prominent industrial site in Fife. Main Responsibilities: Lead the company's community contributions program, engaging with local charities, Community Councils, and Groups to identify funding opportunities. Administer the contributions program. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and promote STEM education activities with local schools. Develop and deliver proactive communications to enhance understanding of company operations. Enhance the company's social media and web presence with engaging content. Craft compelling copy for various digital and print channels. Create short-term campaigns to address key issues such as recruitment. Coordinate with the media team to identify local communication opportunities and support news release development. Coordinate the development of photographic and video materials. Engage with internal teams and monitor external activity to identify potential emerging issues. Address community inquiries and complaints. Specific Requirements: 3-5 years of experience in communications and engagement, demonstrating a proven track record. Experience engaging with community representatives, schools, and charities. Excellent writing skills with a knack for identifying and developing stories. Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences effectively. Proficiency in digital communications, including web and social media. Familiarity with web content management systems. Strong interpersonal skills. Core competencies in writing, social media strategy, communications planning, and strong verbal reasoning and presentations skills. Candidates must hold a full driving license and reside within a 45-minute commute from the site. Candidates will undergo a series of writing and technical tests during the interview process.
