The role of Young Person's Career Coach is an excellent opportunity to provide tailored employability support to a caseload of young people, managing and developing their skills to encourage progression into sustainable employment and apprenticeships.
Main Duties and Accountabilities
1. Assessing needs of young people to understand their barriers, career ambitions, development areas, and training opportunities. Developing strategic relationships with key stakeholders to identify new employability programs.
2. Managing a small caseload of young people with career plans and progression, accurately identifying their needs, challenges, career ambitions, strengths, and development areas, and signposting where relevant.
3. Delivering high-quality in-work support, advice, and guidance for young people on our employability programmes, ensuring that participants sustain progression into apprenticeships and sustained employment.
4. Running group work sessions such as interview techniques, job searches, CV improvements, and confidence building to support and motivate young people, preparing them to a high standard for interviews with employers.
5. Completing goal-focused action plans for young people, preparing CVs, cover letters, job/apprenticeship application forms, job packs, undertaking job searches with participants, and arranging interviews where appropriate.
6. As a key outreach link, developing strategic relationships with key stakeholders and engaging with the local community to successfully identify young people for employability programmes. This includes supporting the delivery of relevant events, job fairs, workshops, and seminars.
7. Collating, completing, and demonstrating case studies, monitoring, and data inputting, ensuring timely input and communication of key documents and information to ensure high contractual compliance standards and effective delivery of operational KPI targets.
