ALS Laboratories are looking for a Senior Technician to support the Pathogens Laboratory at ALS Shrewsbury on a permanent basis. This role reports directly to the Pathogens Section Head.
Working as part of a team, the Senior Technician will assist in the microbiological testing of samples help with the daily quality function, and aid the efficient operation of the laboratory in order to meet customer and internal requirements.
The right candidate will have a keen eye for detail, and be able to closely follow instructions.

Hours Per Week: 40
Days Per Week: Tuesday (10:30 - 21:00), Thursday, Friday and Saturday (12:00 - 22:30)
Contract: Full Time and Permanent
Salary: £25,494 per annum
Key Responsibilities
Sub-culturing of broths for analysis for numerous pathogen tests.
The counting and identification of numerous Microorganisms on enumeration plates.
Performing mathematical calculations in regards to the calculation of test results.
Assisting the Team Leader in daily stock control.
Reading of pathogen plates.
Data and result entry into the LIMS system.
Ensuring assigned work is carried out in a timely fashion following the relevant procedures.
Ensuring the laboratory is clean to a high standard at all times.
Other ad-hoc duties as directed by the duty team leader.
About you:
A Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject (desirable).
The ability to work alone and as part of a team in a busy laboratory.
A keen eye for detail and the ability to work on own initiative.
Good communication skills, written and oral.
Be able to accurately follow written procedures.
Previous laboratory experience would be an advantage but full training will be provided.
