Job overview
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Children’s Therapy Team, working alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy assistants to provide therapy for children and young people in a variety of settings, both within hospital and the community, including special schools. The team offers therapy for children and young people with a wide range of physical and learning needs.
Conditional progression to Band 3 post upon completion of Level 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker Apprentice within 27 months of commencing post and subject to further informal interview.
All Advanced Apprentice Therapy Assistants will complete an induction programme and the Care Certificate upon starting in the role. It is essential that you then achieve an Advanced Level 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker qualification within 27 months of commencing this post which includes attendance at Doncaster College 2 days per month as part of the 20% off the job training that will be provided.
This is a supervised post. You will be allocated a mentor throughout the 27 months apprenticeship to supervise and support you with your learning.
Please note you must be aged 18 or over to apply and must be able to provide certified evidence of all relevant qualifications.
If you are on a visa, you must have been living in the UK for a minimum of 3 years to meet the entry requirements for the course.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to work alongside therapists in the management of some shared patients completing joint assessments, but also independently managing your own patient caseload. You must have great communication and time management skills and be able to prioritise taking into consideration the variety of patients’ needs and have the ability to be flexible and to work as part of a team. You will be able to follow instructions as well as being able to show initiative and to work independently. Documentation is an integral part of the role and you will be expected to document within patients’ records. Computer skills are essential as you will be accessing patient details and ordering equipment on the Clinical Therapy Information systems.
