Nursing posts in Ophthalmology are suitable for experienced nurses with active UK NMC registration. You would work as part of a highly skilled team where you can gain a wealth of experience, supported by a Senior Team, including a designated Mentor.
Candidates interested in developing a career in Ophthalmology will have the opportunity to develop a range of relevant skills, working in glaucoma, medical retina, cataract, and emergency eye clinics.
Main duties of the job
* Maintain a high standard of patient-focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures.
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
* Undertake a wide range of diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, visual fields, intra-ocular pressures following the completion of a robust training program.
* Provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
* Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
* Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient.
* Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct and The Trust's Values.
* Undertake duties on different wards/departments as required by service demands.
* Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
