Description
Torbay Fostering Service is currently looking to appoint a full-time permanent Fostering Supervising Social Worker with the right skills in delivering intensive support to foster carers and their families to enable them to provide the very best nurturing environments to the vulnerable children they care for.
Working in accordance with the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and the Fostering Services National Minimum Standards 2011, part of the role is to undertake monthly supervision visits to a manageable caseload of foster carers, undertake unannounced visits, help with training delivery, and support groups for foster carers, and forge effective working relationships with children’s social workers and front-line teams.
Excellent recording and report writing skills and IT are required for this role. As a fostering Social Worker, we need a team player, a good communicator, and a skilled and self-motivated professional, with the ability to work flexibly. As well as managing a caseload, the role involves being part of a duty rota to support the running of the service.
In the fostering social worker role, a good understanding of the needs of cared for children and of the challenges that these bring for foster carers is important, as well as transferable assessment skills, preferably with direct experience within the fostering sector.
This post meets the requirements for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check. This will show spent and unspent convictions and adult cautions which have not been filtered in line with legislation, plus any information held by local Police that is considered relevant to the role.
