Job Title: Supply Chain Climate Transition Lead
Salary: £73,262 - £86,190
Location: Edinburgh, Bristol, Halifax or Birmingham
Hours: Full-time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at one of our hub locations.
About us: We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone.
About this opportunity:
We're passionate about enabling the group to deliver against our environmental strategy ambitions, protect nature and support the UK’s ambition to be Net Zero by 2050. If you're too, we could be a great fit!
We're a high profile and impactful team. The Supply Chain & Technology Sustainability Team sits within Group Sourcing & Supplier Management, and we're responsible for ensuring we improve the sustainability impacts of our supply chain. This includes reducing the carbon emissions that our suppliers generate and ensuring our suppliers meet other broader Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) requirements.
This role is essential in supporting how we improve the assessment and compliance of our suppliers against evolving ESG. We align ourselves to the Group’s Sustainability strategy and ambitions, particularly the Group’s public ambition to reduce supply chain emissions by 50% by 2030, on the path to net zero by 2050.
We're looking for someone who wants to make a difference. You'll be passionate about contributing to a more sustainable future, staying up to date with current affairs and bringing new insights into the team.
In this role, you’ll be personally leading on engagement with around 160 suppliers to understand how they intend to transition to net zero and using those conversations to form insights and come up with strategy to further support our suppliers as they transform.
What you’ll do:
* Ownership of the supply chain sustainability strategy development, including future Emerald Standard requirements definition.
* Developing and delivering an internal engagement strategy to increase supply chain sustainability accountability at divisional and exec level.
* Ownership of the Emerald Standard Assessments process including oversight of support team and data management processes.
* Engaging and assessing around 160 suppliers to understand their transition plans and produce insights for sharing across the group.
* Providing Sustainability expertise to broader topics across the team including doing research on a range of topics as required to feed into decisions.
* Lead project delivery for improving the process including reviewing and reducing process steps and finding opportunities for automation.
What you’ll need:
* Sustainability: must have experience working in the Sustainability field.
* Technical Knowledge: understanding of GHG Protocol, carbon accounting, supply chain impacts, lifecycle assessments and carbon offsetting.
* Collaboration: the ability to work with a high number of suppliers with differing needs and priorities.
* Communication: excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to adapt key messaging to different audiences.
* Project Delivery: evidence of delivery in a fast-paced environment across multiple projects at the same time.
* Understanding of organisational climate goals: a good knowledge of how climate goals are set with an understanding of what actions will influence the business in achieving these goals.
* Data Analysis: able to interpret data and use this to prioritise and drive actions that support the goals of reducing carbon emissions.
It would be great if you also had:
* Experience working on sustainability-based projects or projects where supply chain was the primary focus.
* Experience working within a team focused on transition planning.
* Understanding of supplier management and sourcing processes and tools.
About working for us: Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.
We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.
We’re disability confident. So, if you’d like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:
* A generous pension contribution of up to 15%.
* An annual bonus award, subject to Group performance.
* Share schemes including free shares.
* Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.
* 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top.
