Our Young Persons Worker teams offer vital support, training, and education to young people in their locality. They work with other agencies and professionals to safeguard their young clients, working with their families too where appropriate.
The work can be challenging but it's always rewarding and at With You, you'll be part of an amazing team making a real difference to people's lives.
The working hours for this role are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
Access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
As a Young Persons Worker, you'll be supporting a caseload of young people who are experiencing difficulties with substance misuse. You'll work with them to access their needs, develop care plans, deliver a variety of treatments and/or refer them to other specialist support when needed.
You'll also be proactively engaging with young people to provide them with the support, training, education and guidance they need to better understand the implication of the situations they may face and the decision they may take
Required Skills
To be able to do this job successfully, you will have:
1. have attained ONC/NVQ level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months
2. experience of working with young people in a 1:1 or group setting
3. experience of working with young people with substance misuse and/or mental health difficulties
4. experience of supporting young people with difficulties they may face such as homelessness or domestic abuse
5. experience of completing risk assessments or care plans for young people
6. excellent relationship building skills with a range of people from a wide variety of backgrounds
7. the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team, sharing your skills knowledge and experience
8. good organisational skills to be able to manage your time effectively, prioritising your work and being able to cope with the pressure of competing demands
9. excellent written and oral communication skills, including engaging delivery of presentations
10. the ability to record and maintain accurate case details and in a timely manner
11. effective IT skills, able to use different packages and digital media
This role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced level DBS and barred lists check.
Desirable Skills
While they are not essential, the following would be an advantage to candidates;
12. a qualification in substance misuse, mental health, psychology, nursing or youth work
13. experience of working within Children's Social Care
14. Knowledge of parenting skills and issues
