Behaviour Support Assistant

As a behaviour support assistant, you will work with students who have been excluded from mainstream education or require additional support to help them re-engage with learning. Key responsibilities of the behaviour support assistant role:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural needs
Assist in managing challenging behaviours using a calm and consistent approach
Support students both in and outside of the classroom environment
Work alongside teaching staff and other professionals to implement individual behaviour plans
Build trusting relationships to help students achieve their educational and personal goals
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Promote positive behaviour strategies and restorative practices
What we're looking for in a behaviour support assistant:
Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs (in school or alternative settings)
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Ability to manage behaviour in a consistent and professional manner
Resilience and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations
A team player who can communicate effectively with staff and students alike
A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
