We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join the team here at Leonardo in Luton. This role will lead all manufacturing activities and resources to deliver products to schedule, quality and cost for a Business Sector. Supporting the operations function of over 120 team members is a great challenge for somebody looking to advance their career and take on a varied and wide-ranging role.
What will you do
* Achievement of all manufacturing deliverables to schedule, quality and cost targets
* Lead a cross-functional team and provide technical leadership along with training, coaching and guidance as necessary
* Ownership of all Manufacturing and Operations activities within your Business Sector
* Lead and motivate a multi-faceted, cross-functional team in the delivery of manufacturing deliverables including the productionisation of new products and designs
* Act as the main interface between the Business Sector and the Operations team, translating the business needs into a clear set of requirements for Manufacturing to execute
* Ownership of the Operational estimates & plans that form part of the commercial bids in the drive to win new business.
* Lead Operational Input for the Business Sector throughout the life cycle of the portfolio of products
* Support the Business Sector interactions with both internal and external customers
* Champion continuous improvement within the sector and the Operations function
* Lead the uptake of new production systems, tools and their use within the business
What we need from you:
* Highly effective interpersonal skills; excellent communicator, strong written, verbal and presentation skills. Experienced in influencing and negotiating with multiple stakeholders.
* Demonstrated experience in Manufacturing and Engineering roles. Project Management and Supply Chain Management experience are also highly desirable
* Experience in delivering key manufacturing projects into production
* Leadership and delivery experience in a high technology, low volume, manufacturing environment (ideally for the Defence Industry) with a proven record of accomplishment.
* An individual that embraces change, drives continuous improvement and has the ability to influence stakeholders across the Business.
* Experience of cost centre ownership and financial reporting.
* Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 and experience in supporting audits and accreditation efforts.
* Experience of working with SAP (or similar ERP system) within a Manufacturing context.
* Ability to produce professional presentation materials for use at an executive level
* Understanding of Scenario and Capacity Planning, MRP and SIOP.
* Good understanding of SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) legislation.

* A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
