About the job
This is a mid-to-senior-level role, ideal for someone who wants to ‘get in early’ to a fast-growing firm, to shape its team and build out systems for continuous growth. You have experience working in pharma and consulting, and you’d now like to take your experience to the next level in a firm, helping drive growth, manage projects and receive mentorship and support along the way.
You will be supported and coached by the Head of Consulting of the company and work together to further shape our offering. You will also get the opportunity to develop your natural interest and curiosity in topics such as service design and business strategy. You will be given the opportunity to make one of our key focus areas within: Medical Affairs, Commercial Strategy or Patient Engagement your own. Growing this side of practice, and in due course, building your own team.
We are looking only for the brightest and sharpest minds. Are you a strategic thinker with a deep curiosity in tomorrow’s biggest healthcare challenges? Are you a problem-solver that doesn’t quite fit into the ‘conventional’ box? Are you excited to be part of a global team and contribute your knowledge and experience by working with life sciences clients? If so, we’d love you to apply.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a strategic thinker and creative problem-solver with a passion for disrupting the status quo in pharma with the below minimum qualifications:
* Consulting Experience: You have 4+ years of strategy or management consulting experience, with at least 2 years focussed on life sciences or pharma.
* Life Sciences Industry Knowledge: You have experience working on life sciences projects in the areas of Medical Affairs, Commercial Strategy or Patient Engagement (or within life sciences companies focussed on these areas)
* Innovation Strategy Experience: You have knowledge of design thinking, service design, and human-centric frameworks and feel comfortable using them to create innovative, client-focused solutions that challenge conventional approaches to deliver meaningful outcomes.
* Geographical Focus: You have engaged with clients that cover the UK, Europe and/or US markets.
Who You Are
In addition to the above, some of the qualities you possess are:
* Proactive & Self-Starter: You crave independence and the ability to pioneer new ideas of your own. You naturally assume responsibility, work under your own initiative, are resourceful and have that entrepreneurial spirit to ‘get started now’.
* Adventurous: You enjoy meeting new people and aren’t afraid to get stuck in to try new things from Day 1. Activities like supporting business development, identifying client challenges, creating proposals, and pitching all sound interesting to you and are skills you’d like to develop further.
* Articulate & Empathetic: You’re a good listener and can get to the core of what’s important to others. You’re a strategic thinker and comfortable adapting on the fly to respond to client needs. You enjoy bringing your creative energy when writing articles or creating presentations and have often wondered: how can we go beyond the traditional PowerPoint slide?
* Curious: You’re a voracious learner, you know something about everything, and love to gain insight on everything from futures thinking to pharmacovigilance.
* Real Business Nous: You love business, you enjoy deconstructing problems, you’re curious about health, you can pick up key industry developments and can speak with intelligence and insight across multiple domains.
* Resilient: We tell it like it is, and we expect you to as well. You embrace critical feedback and aren’t afraid to share opposing views in a group setting. You’re comfortable being challenged, you don’t give up easily and have a high standard of quality in the work you deliver.
About the Role
As a Senior Strategy & Design Consultant, you will be responsible for:
* Reporting to the Head of Consulting to build a broad portfolio of work around you as you grow projects with existing and new clients.
* Lead strategic consulting engagements from ideation to delivery, with a focus on areas like Medical Affairs, Commercial Strategy, or Patient Engagement.
* Understand the project content and deliver on client objectives, often with some context and ambiguity
* Lead client meetings, proposals and debriefs, including presenting at meetings and writing thought leadership pieces.
* Contribute to business development by crafting compelling proposals and identifying new client opportunities.
* Build relationships - both internally and externally - by collaborating with a diverse and virtual team around the globe.
* Apply cutting-edge approaches such as design / futures thinking and service design to redefine industry norms.
* Get your hands dirty - on Day One, you’ll start learning and working on consulting assignments. You’ll be exposed to everything from understanding complex stakeholder dynamics to patient engagement, corporate strategy, change management, design thinking, drug development and launch.
Please Note: All applicants must have the right to work in the United Kingdom (UK).
About Impatient Health
There are thousands, maybe even millions, of consulting companies in the world. Only a few are trying to bring something new to the world. We believe our company, Impatient Health, is one of them.
Our work is exclusively in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech industries, which tend to think of themselves as mature and conservative in their approach to risk. We’re here to help them become more ambitious, open-minded and creative - because patients demand it. We help them dream, and then turn those dreams into reality.
We are also growing fast. Despite being young (4 years), we have grown some incredible assets - (i) knowing everyone in the industry, (ii) having an ‘independent’ positioning, and (iii) having a CEO who is known as a disruptor & thought-leader. Because of this, we receive many organic approaches from potential clients who are looking for help on a wide variety of projects. We need someone who can work as a peer with our Head of Consulting to convert these into long standing, profitable engagements with a timespan of several years.
