Specialist Practitioner Psychologist - Weight Management
Band 7
This is an opportunity for a practitioner psychologist to join the Health Psychology Service in a permanent role within the Weight Management Service at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
If you're passionate about the NHS and want a role that involves supporting people living with obesity to manage their weight and improve their health, this is the role for you. You will be delivering both individual and group interventions using evidence-based psychological models.
You will be working alongside and supervised by a Principal Clinical Psychologist and other members of the MDT, including physiotherapists, dietitians, and medical staff. There will be opportunities for research and service evaluation within this friendly team.
You must be willing to travel as we work at numerous locations across an expansive and beautiful geographical area from the coast to the mountains.
The post holder will join the rapidly developing, supportive, and dynamic Health Psychology Service with like-minded psychology colleagues working in various specialties across the lifespan.
Main duties of the job
To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service to the Adult Weight Management Service covering the Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil, and Bridgend areas.
The service is based in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Hospital, with interventions delivered across multiple sites and remotely.
The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessment and treatment while offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, working autonomously within professional guidelines.
This post will also offer the opportunity for you to develop your supervision skills by assisting the senior psychologist with the provision of psychological supervision to the assistant psychologist and wider multi-disciplinary team, and to utilize research skills for audit, policy, and service development within the area served by the team/service.
The post holder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary adult weight management team, contributing to the activities and developments across the teams, and participate appropriately in the professional activities of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) Clinical Health Psychology specialty.

Qualifications
* Post graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 2000) as accredited by the British Psychological Society or British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence.
* HCPC registration
* Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design, and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
* Knowledge of clinical governance issues.
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two psychological therapies as applied to people with neurological conditions or long-term physical health conditions.
* Understanding of Local and National policies and relevant political drivers.
Experience
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings.
* Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations, IT applications using excellent keyboard skills.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary/multi-agency working.
* Experience of working with people with long-term physical health conditions.
* Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision.
* Experience of working with people who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
* Experience of co-facilitating or running psychoeducational and therapy groups for patients.
Aptitude and abilities
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management.
