Diabetic Eye Screening Wales (DESW) is part of Public Health Wales (PHW). We deliver the national service to screen for diabetic retinopathy, to help save sight and we are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual with drive and ambition to join our West Wales team. This role will provide an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic service, striving to improve outcomes and patient care through the delivery of high-quality screening to the growing diabetic population of Wales. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and adaptable nurse professional with a focus on delivering quality health care services within an outpatient setting. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to support and lead screening staff and build collaborative relationships with people working in DESW, PHW and our wider stakeholders. You will support the Programme Manager in leading the Screening delivery function within a defined geographical region and will be responsible for the training and development of our screening staff. You will also contribute to the implementation of standard operating procedures, ensuring consistent use of the DESW policies, standards, protocols, and performance management framework. Role You will also play a key role in delivering our developing service improvement and modernisation programme, including the opportunity to lead all Wales projects. As part of a small nurse management team, you will support the Programme Lead Nurse in the promotion of clinical excellence through supervision, audit and encouraging evidence-based practice. This will include the following key deliverables: Providing a high-quality, clinically safe, and efficient service Providing a high-quality screening function Achieving an agreed set of performance targets You will understand the complexities of delivering person-centred care for individuals with long term conditions and ideally have experience of working within diabetic or ophthalmology services. The successful candidate will support staff in our regional offices in West Wales. On occasions, you will also be asked to work across Wales as part of our national service.
