Senior MSK Therapist (Physiotherapist / Osteopath)
We have opportunities to recruit Band 6 MSK Therapists to work within our MSK Team in Southampton & Portsmouth localities. We are looking for motivated individuals with MSK experience who are passionate about delivering high quality care & wish to develop their career alongside our team of physiotherapists, osteopaths, clinical specialists, exercise rehabilitation instructors & FCP's.
You will be responsible for delivering evidence based care to a varied MSK caseload. Our service prides itself on developing people & this is an opportunity for those who see their future in MSK. There are many opportunities for development with high quality teaching & regular supervision. You will have the time to consolidate & further develop skills as the service is actively involved in research & quality improvement.
We continue to deliver a high quality Combined Psychological & Physical Programme for chronic low back pain in collaboration with Talking Therapy services. We have close connections with colleagues in the Persistent Pain Team to support patients with long term conditions. Solent MSK Service prides itself on our extensive delivery of FCP services within the region, creating further opportunities for development.
We have a good support network & clinical teams are led by Pathway Leads in collaboration with Clinical Specialists & Team Leaders. You will have the ability to develop your supervision & mentorship skills with opportunities to supervise undergraduate students & Band 5 colleagues.
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake skilled MSK assessments using advanced clinical reasoning skills and a variety of assessment techniques to provide accurate diagnosis.
2. To develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence based treatment.
3. To communicate effectively with patients to progress rehabilitation and treatment programmes including those who may have additional communication needs.
4. Manage own caseload, using highly specialist knowledge and skills as an autonomous practitioner, including maintenance of comprehensive records.
5. To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable as an autonomous practitioner for all aspects of your own professional activities, to carry a clinical caseload of patients for whom you are responsible.
6. To keep up to date with evidence base, current national and developments and utilise this knowledge and best practice.
7. To maintain a high-level clinical skill set within the team to ensure high quality and compassionate care for all patients.
8. To supervise technicians, Band 5 physiotherapists and students.
9. To participate in appropriate research / evaluation and service improvement projects.
10. To ensure all care delivered empowers patients to recover their independence at the earliest opportunity.
About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by the end of 2024.
Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.
The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on the day the trust is formed. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Professional UK registration e.g., HCPC or GOsC
* BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree, BSc (Hons) Osteopathy, or equivalent
* Post graduate training in specialty clinical skills as required for role
* Evidence or portfolio of post graduate continued development
Experience
* Must have experience working in the NHS
* Evidence of post graduate MSK experience
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
* Adhere to current statutory requirements, standards, and regulations
* Awareness of local and national agenda within the speciality

Salary: £35,392 to £42,618 a year (please note for part time hours the salary will be pro rata).
