IT Service Desk Application Support Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Service Desk Application Support Engineer to join our team and provide first-line support for our bespoke software, used across all of our clinics. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient performance of custom applications by delivering high-quality, technical support. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and users, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex application issues. As part of your role, you will also provide expert advice on enhancements and optimisations to ensure the applications continue to meet evolving user needs.
In this position, you’ll be the go-to person for resolving technical issues, managing support tickets, and ensuring that SLAs are met. You’ll act as a liaison between development teams and users, helping to gather feedback and prioritise user needs. Your role will also involve assisting in identifying areas for application improvements and updates, and ensuring that internal teams are trained on the best practices and functionalities of the applications. Collaboration will be key as you work with developers to implement fixes and optimisations, while also documenting support procedures, FAQs, and known issues to promote knowledge sharing across the team.
We are looking for someone with proven experience in application support, particularly with bespoke or custom-built software. You’ll need to have strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure that issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. Familiarity with databases, APIs, and integration points is also important, as is experience with bug tracking and issue management systems such as Jira or ServiceNow. Knowledge of programming languages, particularly VB.NET and SQL, with a solid understanding of Stored Procedures, would be a huge advantage.
You should be someone who thrives under pressure, capable of prioritising tasks effectively to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner. Previous experience in a client-facing role is highly desirable, and a positive, proactive attitude towards learning new technologies is essential. If you're passionate about helping users, optimising bespoke applications, and working in a dynamic environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
In return, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your technical expertise will make a direct impact. You’ll also have access to continuous learning and development opportunities to enhance your skills. This is your chance to make a difference in the functionality and performance of the applications that support the clinics, and to grow your career in a supportive and innovative team.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and want to work in an exciting, hands-on role, we’d love to hear from you.
