About the team
You will work in the Analytical & Scoring Model Review team within Credit Risk which is a team of 11 (Credit Risk department consists of c.70 FTE), working on multiple priorities within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Our team carry out work across Credit Risk including scoring model reviews, peer reviews of key pieces of analysis, and intelligence analysis amongst much more. In addition, we carry out ad hoc analysis into areas of particular interest.
About the role
As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst working on model review you will be helping us ensure that our models are robust and accurate, making best use of the increasing amount of data available to make more informed credit lending decisions for our customers and Financial Services business, ultimately creating value for The Very Group.
Reporting to the Head of Analytical and Scoring Model Review, you will work with the business to review all aspects of key credit risk model developments. Help us build models that will make the right decisions at the right times. Whether it’s reviewing the development sample, characteristic analysis or modelling methodology, you’ll be expected to provide insight and recommendations, communicating these in a compelling, impactful way to senior stakeholders.
You’ll work on multiple priorities within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You’ll need to be able to manage the expectations of stakeholders alongside prioritising your workload. You will also play your part to meet the broader needs of the business and deliver a world class, personalised experience for our customer.

About you
You’re curious, analytical and logical by nature with a keen eye for detail. You have a degree in a numerate discipline, are highly proficient with SQL or SAS with advanced Microsoft Excel skills too. Experience of credit model development is essential.
We’re also interested in your softer skills - your ability to coach and develop other analysts, work with challenging stakeholders along with the ability to solve complex problems and relay solutions in a simple, clear and concise way.
Working at pace with competing and changing priorities doesn’t faze you - you thrive in that type of environment, you’re not afraid to challenge the status quo.
Customer outcome focused and commercially aware with the ability to present your findings into actionable business recommendations, you’re comfortable in dealing with stakeholders at all levels.
