Maintenance Supervisor
Basic salary £40k to £42k, dependent upon experience, plus additional regular overtime and call out rota payments.
Van, fuel card, uniform, IT equipment, and test equipment will be provided.
Location - Havant and surrounding areas

Reed Recruitment is recruiting for a Reactive Maintenance Supervisor for our client who is an established and reputable local business with experience in providing responsive repairs and maintenance solutions to local authorities and housing associations. In this role, you will supervise trade operatives, ensuring that the right work is done at the right time to the agreed quality standards. This will include leading, coordinating, motivating, and training team members to meet the required performance standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Ensuring that repairs are undertaken in a structured and cost-effective manner, with efficient use of the team and in compliance with Health & Safety policies and statutory legislation.
2. Raising quotes and estimates for the cost and time to undertake repairs.
3. Daily supervision of the trade's team, including being responsible for communicating information via toolbox talks; undertaking absence return to works and monitoring the health, safety, and welfare of your team; assisting with their training and development via coaching, 1:1s, performance management meetings, etc.
4. Providing technical advice, support, and guidance to operatives and escalating issues when necessary.
5. Supporting operatives when they are on the evening/weekend call-out rota through the escalation process.
6. Responsibility for the safety and welfare of employees and sub-contractors on site, including ensuring safe working practices & procedures are fully implemented and documented.
7. Undertaking pre-work inspections and quality assessments, as well as providing instructions to rectify any snagging, defects, and/or uncompleted works.
8. Liaising with tenants regarding the scope of service provision and to resolve issues/manage expectations.
9. Liaising with the Clients and CDM Co-ordinator to provide works updates and resolve issues.
10. Collecting and presenting data requests and implementing and driving actions for improvement gained from data analysis.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Hold a full driving licence with no more than 3 points.
2. Previous experience of supervising trade teams in social housing maintenance, or a trades person confident in making the move upwards to supervision.
3. Good technical knowledge regarding all aspects of building maintenance, in particular new bathroom fitting and kitchen design & installation.
4. SMSTS/SSSTS qualified, with a good understanding of the English language.
5. Strong IT skills. Able to use PDAs and good practical experience of using MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
6. Good commercial awareness and understanding of the impact of costs.
7. Awareness of CDM regulations and H&S Training.
8. Strong decision-making/problem-solving skills, together with excellent organisational and communication skills.
9. Self-motivated.
