EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realization of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EDF EPR-E UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
We are looking to recruit for the role of Manufacturing Technical Lead.
The role will involve leading activities from the UK within the Contract team under the leadership of the Contract Engineering Lead for Piping Contracts. The primary responsibility will be to support the manufacturing activities, ensuring alignment with project requirements and client expectations.
Responsibilities:
1. Surveillance and Oversight:
Conduct surveillance of the Contract Partner’s manufacturing activities, ensuring compliance with design and qualification standards and alignment with the client schedule.
Develop and endorse surveillance planning documents in collaboration with NNB HPC.
2. Technical Support and Quality Assurance:
Provide technical support to the client’s supplier, addressing any gaps in deliverables or quality issues.
Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), Request for Information (RFI), and other configuration management processes.
Contribute to the Quality Release Certificate process from a manufacturing perspective.
3. Contract and Project Management Support:
Assist the CEL in managing technical risks, changes, and decision processes related to the contract.
Support the interpretation of technical content in contractual correspondence.
Participate in technical discussions and design reviews with the client’s supplier and NNB HPC stakeholders.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
Work collaboratively with the internal stakeholders as well as with the client and its suppliers.
Engage proactively with all engineering activities of the contract, ensuring timely fulfilment of NNB’s contractual obligations.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
Manage the updating of the RD’s documentation link with manufacturing.
Prepare technical inspection mandates and assess the adequacy of surveillance plans.
Report progress and issues to the RD CEL and Multi-disciplinary team.
6. Nuclear Pressure Equipment / Nuclear Pressure Systems (NPE/NPS) policies support:
Support the delivery of the last NPE/NPS documents.
You are:
To be considered, the following qualifications, experience, and skills are essential:
1. Engineering background, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
2. First experience in Piping Design, preferably in the Nuclear industry.
3. Proven experience in manufacturing surveillance and technical support.
4. Knowledge of the RCC-M code / ASME / EN standards.
5. Strong understanding of design and qualification processes within a manufacturing environment.
6. Ability to work within cost, schedule, and quality constraints.
7. Keen to learn and open to working on a variety of different activities.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
1. A good understanding of the various stages of a piping system’s design.
2. Successful first engineering experience in Multidisciplinary / Complex engineering projects, ideally in change management.
3. Experience with design context and regulatory processes in the United Kingdom.
4. Understanding of the EPR or general PWR design.
