Role Overview
As the Finance Director, you will oversee all financial aspects of the company, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strategic financial management. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership:
1. Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's vision and objectives
2. Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify opportunities for growth, cost savings, and investment
3. Create detailed financial plans that address profitability, cash flow, and capital structure
4. Define KPIs for all financial activities and align them with business goals to track and measure success
5. Present financial strategies, plans, and results to senior stakeholders, providing clear insights and recommendations
Financial Planning and Budgeting:
1. Oversee the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational plans
2. Develop and maintain financial models to forecast revenue, expenses, and cash flow
3. Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions
4. Provide financial analysis and support for business decisions, such as pricing, new service offerings, and acquisitions
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
1. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, quarterly reports, and annual financial statements
2. Maintain strong internal controls and financial processes to ensure compliance with regulations and accounting standards
3. Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors
4. Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns and other statutory reports
5. Identify and assess financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate them
6. Manage cash flow and working capital, ensuring adequate liquidity to support operations and growth
7. Oversee banking relationships and negotiate financing terms
Team Management and Collaboration:
1. Build, lead, mentor, and develop a finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance
2. Conduct regular performance reviews and identify professional development opportunities for team members
3. Work closely with other departments, such as operations, marketing, and senior leaders, to align goals and strategies
4. Build strong relationships with external partners, such as banks, investors, and financial advisors
Qualifications and Experience
1. A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent qualification) is essential
2. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 5+ years of experience in a senior finance role
3. A mix of PE and corporate experience, preferably in an adult social care environment
4. Proven track record of successfully managing financial operations in a growing company
5. Demonstrable experience in financial planning, budgeting, and reporting
6. Expertise in financial analysis and modelling
7. Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously
8. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences
9. Proficiency in using financial software and ERP systems
10. Strategic Vision: Ability to see the big picture while managing details for successful execution
11. Analytical Mindset: Data-driven decision-making with strong attention to detail
