Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of Compliance, the role holder will provide specialist knowledge, practical solutions and monitoring of compliance topics, as well as contributing to an overall compliance culture. The role will be a key member of the compliance function and will be self-motivated and a team player enthusiastic about building a central HSB Group Compliance function.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide support to the Director of Compliance to develop, implement and maintain a compliant CMS, ensuring appropriate compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and Group standards.
2. Perform and promptly complete compliance monitoring reviews, including thematic and desk-based periodic reviews in line with the annual compliance plan.
3. Support the production of an annual group compliance plan and contribute to continued reporting against this plan to the Board.
4. Contribute to the further development of the Compliance Management System (CMS) framework, including the development of new controls, improvement of existing ones, and identify efficiencies and automation opportunities.
5. Provide advice and guidance to business managers to enable them to understand the regulatory implications of new business, initiatives and business changes.
6. Development and improvement of compliance processes in accordance with market practice to meet regulatory expectations.
7. Adapt compliance policies to align them with Group and local regulatory standards and monitor adherence to the policies with respect to selected compliance topics.
8. Perform regulatory change impact analysis of regulatory publications to identify potential risks to the CMS, internal governance, rules and standards.
9. Assist and advise on the Financial Crime and Sanctions risk(s) posed to the business, ensuring compliance with all internal standards and external legislation.
10. Embed a compliance culture across the business and provide compliance training to existing staff and new joiners where appropriate.
11. Plus any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role.
Key Skills & Experience:
1. You should have relevant experience in a similar role and business with a strong, detailed knowledge and understanding of FCA and PRA practices and expectations.
2. Proven understanding and awareness of the application of Consumer Duty requirements for insurers.
3. Effective time management demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks and trustworthiness.
4. Good knowledge of Financial Crime legislation and experience in AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and fraud.
5. Excellent understanding of the FCA's business standards PRIN, SYSC, SUP, COBS, ICOBS, PROD.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
7. Ability to interpret and present complex regulatory information in a clear and understandable manner.
8. Experience in representing compliance in internal meetings, and assisting in the production of management information for executive and board committees.
9. Proven record of leading and delivering major initiatives and projects.
